Velmi rozhořčeně jsem dnes telefonoval do Evropského parlamentu ve Štrasburku, abych se zeptal poslance Richarda Flabra, na informaci, že Evropská frakce socialistů chce navrhnout na Nobelovu cenu míru paní Cathy Ashton, Ivicu Daciće premiéra Srbska a někdejšího vůdce UČK Hashima Thaciho dnešního premiéra tzv. Republiky Kosovo.

Dear Hannes,

I am writing to you regarding your letter to Mr. Thorbjørn Jagland, Chair of the Nobel Committee, in which you recommend the Nobel Committee to support the nomination of Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the European Union, Ivica Dačić, Prime Minister of Serbia, and Hashim Thaçi, Prime Minister of Kosovo, for the Nobel Peace Prize.

I strongly protest against this initiative as this recommendation was sent out without any discussion or debate inside our political group. Personally I do not agree to send out a recommendation for Mr. Thaçi regarding his more than bizarre past as the Head of the Kosovo Liberation Army (UÇK). That is why I consider this letter and the nomination as unacceptable.
Mr. Thaçi is alleged to have extensive criminal links - serious human rights abuses, including organ and illegal drug trafficking - stated in the report to the Council of Europe, issued on 12 December 2010. The council's parliamentary assembly called for international investigations into crimes committed in the aftermath of the Kosovo conflict, including numerous indications that organs were removed from the bodies of prisoners held by the UÇK on Albanian territory.
Attached you will find the whole report of the Council of Europe.

I sincerely hope we can open this issue at one of the group meetings this week in Strasbourg as I believe that the nomination or support of Mr. Thaçi is not in line with the values and principles of our political group.

Socialist regards,

Richard Falbr, MEP
Head of the Czech S-D Delegation in the EP

Group of the Progressive Alliance
of Socialists & Democrats in the European Parliament
